Back in the Mountains

My first trip back out into the Mountains and Borrowdale Valley was the perfect place to go after not getting out for nearly 12 weeks it was so good to be putting on my Scarpa boots again and going up some proper mountains.

Starting from Seatoller NT car park (toilets now open) I made my way up Thornywaite Fell my good waking friend Liam had also joined me for day out, our first

summit of the day was Glaramara at 783 meters this was good walk up and blew out the cobwebs from here onto Allen Crags at 785 meters the plan from here was to have some lunch at Sprinkling Tarn. The Tarn did not disappoint the views were amazing and what place to have some lunch and admire Borrowdale Valley and the massive peaks that surround you. From here we made the traverse up to Base Brown at 646 meters from here straight over the top down to Sourmilk Gill the descent is very steep and the path fades in and out I would only suggest going down this route if you have good weather and are happy descending steep ground.

This made for really good circuit of Wainwrights and brought us back to the car park total distant 17k with 1100m of ascent.
